    Daikoku Seamount: active venting and thick volcanic smoke! Plumes of likely CO2 gas and sulfur were emanating from cracks. Also: tubeworms, crabs, and a high density of flat fish specialized in living on the sulfur rich ground! 🎥NOAA

    New species of kitefin discovered off the Gulf of Mexico. First caught in 2010, it has now been described as Mollisquama mississippiensis sp. nov.

    Here is a deep dense aggregation of Irish sea pens, predominantly Pennatula aculeata with Halipteris sp in the middle. Also in shot are 2 purple Benthogone rosea sea cucumbers, and 1 xenophyophore (a giant single celled multinucleate organism)
