    has taught me that it’s ok to cry and be sad. I was thinking of my problems with abandonment, how my family caused it, and how sad I am for them. At first, I was angry, but my anger quickly faded once I realized that it was their problem, and they missed out.

    Can someone explain the validity and effectiveness of the 24 hour rule. Feels like I’m being treated like a toddler on a ‘time out’. Self harm behaviour is more complex... perhaps I self harmed but I avoided a major overdose!?!

    I do. Also dissociation makes me actively avoid it. In they showed me how I can look at someone beside their eyes so it looks like eye contact

    my new therapist misspelled binge as bibge on my diary card and caught her mistake but left it as is as an exercise in acceptance... we had just discussed my perfectionism as the missing link in filling in out. All therapists are jerks. Marsha said so.

    I’m often asked what the difference is between CBT and DBT. I don’t know the proper answer to that. But as a patient I always felt tried to change thoughts I felt I couldn’t change, whereas taught me to cope with these thoughts/emotions/painful events in a healthy way.

    When people ask what the best therapy for me is/has been, I say my dog. DBT is a very close second. Dialectical behavioural therapy has saved my life (but so has Coco). I feel very lucky to have him and to have access to . What therapy works best for you?
