A3: Apologies for the example choice, but to those that say you shouldn't talk social media to younger kids "because they are even old enough to have it yet" that is like putting off sex ed until teens are active. . . by then its too late! That's the story I share w/Ts

Any opportunity you can take to showcase the amount of engagement you're getting from parents and the community can also help. Especially if its an extension of your LMS. Everyone likes to see impact!

I think Google classroom is a good way to introduce younger learners to participating on social media . Within the class page is a safe place for them to practice commenting and posting when they might not yet be active on Twitter, Facebook etc.

A4: "If we don't tell our story, who will?" School looks so different than when we attended, so demystifying what our days look like leads to better parent understanding and partnerships

We've found some student appropriate selections that fit with our literature theme selections for that quarter to get them started. Their works were SO POWERFUL to listen to. Some were also on Speech and Debate, so their delivery was top-notch.

A5. First Admin has to be given training on benefits and safety. Some are concern as to wether it is safe because of online bullying scenarios and the like... Second, inform teachers and parents how they can make use of it.. a lot of it is common sense

Isn't it just great? I get something new from it every time I read it. Right now it's reminding me that true growth comes from the long journey of grappling with a tension and not the quick-and-easy solution. SO important for PLC work.
