    I thank my colleagues for passing Amendment 160 on the expungement of juvenile and emerging adult records. Citizens will soon be able to apply to expunge their records in a timeframe that allows them to have a second chance and rebuild their lives

    Criminal Justice Reform and CSG bills are signed into law! Through policies like diversion, expungement, and re-entry, we’re going to look at people as individuals, rather than the result of broad-based policies.

    Instead of giving prosecutors *more* power to coerce drug users, the bill should decriminalize and take power away from prosecutors to wage the war on drugs. We must stop these dangerous amendments.

    Important part of : Corporations guilty of manslaughter will face fines up to $250,000 and debarment from state contracts for 10 years. That’s up from the current fine of just $1,000.

    We would not be ready to take this major step forward on criminal justice reform without the advocacy of Communities for Restorative Justice. Together we are demonstrating that Massachusetts can once again lead the country in making the reforms we need.

    Tonight I thank my colleagues for passing Amendment 152 to codify the Juvenile Court best practices on the use of restraints. Our statutes will soon reflect the humane and age appropriate practices of the Juvenile Court

    Great coverage from the about the impact of harsh parole policies on people trying to get clean. This story breaks my heart, and we must work for policy changes to set folks like Julie on the road to recovery, not the road to jail.
