Swainson’s Thrush (1st photo) vs Bicknell’s Thrush (2nd). Subtle difference but the Swainson’s has a bright eye ring and streaky cheek.

The continuing Bicknell's Thrush, an infrequent visitor to Central Park, seen in the North Woods today. This was originally id'd by its call and then the two white quills on its right side made it an easy re-find for all birders.

Female Downy Woodpecker caught a caterpillar but it was squirming, so she whacked it against a branch for over a minute. Outcome never in doubt (last photo).

Happy Mother’s Day
I was hopeful that these thriving goslings were one and the same as those in this mother goose’s nest out in Harlem Meer earlier this Spring.
