    Death Valley National Park hit a high temperature of 128° today. This breaks the old record of 122° for this date set in 1917.

    **Update** Sacramento (City) topped out at 110 degrees this afternoon. Previous record high for Downtown Sacramento on this date was 102 in 1976.

    Death Valley was absolutely sizzling today. The high temperature at Furnace Creek hit 128°. The all-time hottest temperature recorded there is 134°

    Wildfires cause burn scars. When heavy rain falls over these burn scars, dangerous debris flows can occur. Make sure to be aware of any burn scars near you, especially if you are hiking or camping.

    At this time of the year (high sun angle) large solar farms briefly reflect sunlight back to space as seen be the GOES West visible imagery in the video. The solar farm is over on the Carrizo Plain.

    located over Monterey county is putting up smoke. Here is latest smoke model showing where we think the main smoke will go today. As winds turn southwest the heavier smoke will push towards northern Monterey, San Benito and southern Santa Clara county.

    Does it seem smoky out today? Not only do we have some clouds, but smoke from wildfires in AZ, NM, and Mexico can been seen as a milky white haze in satellite images (left). Our computer models (right) also show the smoke spanning much of the West.

    Were watching a band of clouds push south to north over the Los Padres National Forest in Monterey county. No lightning strikes observed so far. Temps on the ground as warm as 108 degrees with RH 5%. Radar has been put into precip mode.
