    No matter the stats, I have lived in for over 40 years and we have not had quite like this in my life time. This is not just Brisbane river breaking its banks. Its every creek, stormwater drain and low lying area.

    To the left and to the right. We are flooded. Trapped. Lives are being lost, towns drowned, businesses lost, houses destroyed. No way in, no way out, grocery stores are empty. Rivers peaking at nearly 23 metres.

    - just had its wettest 3-day period on record. The city received 611.6mm of rain between 9am Friday and 6pm Sunday. This is its highest 3-day total in records dating back to 1840, beating the previous record of 600.4mm from 1974.

    My home got surrounded by water today but we managed to keep it out except for garage. Neighbour 100 metres away who I had never met came to help us as he knew we were . Don't ever let anyone tell you there are no dinkum Aussies left. Hugely grateful.
