    Last year we GPS-tagged this who just came back from Namibia! Cannot convey how excited we are to have such precise data of this impressive 8000km trip. Dot colour is speed, red being faster (up to 100kph!). Found her with partner at old nestbox

    And meanwhile, another excellent ringing session at our Jews’ Gate Field Centre this morning. Over 70 birds so far, most of which are migrants, including this stunning Hoopoe with its fabulous hairdo.

    Amazing passage of Black kites (with several Booted eagles) yesterday morning, Tarifa Spain. I watched several groups of up to 400 birds close to Sierra de la Plata. They like to get there with strong E winds, not crossing the Gibraltar Strait

    Scarlet Tanager with catch - he repeatedly smashed the wasp against the branch to get rid of it’s sting before swallowing it. At least 6 (probably more) of these fabulous birds this evening at Morningside Park around 118St!
