I know what you mean. Keep an eye on
#beekeepershour in the month or so beforehand and read plenty. A friend of mine started beekeeping a year before me and she did a split without any problems last year so I don't think it's too hard (once you've done it) I'll do a video deffo -
Anyway, if someone has space for an out-apiary in-and-around

Reading, reading, reading! I am feeling a tad apprehensive as spring gets nearer and I begin my beekeeping journey!

Plot twist! UK beekeepers & people involved in bee research, bee businesses & bee charities who see this tweet play these numbers & all share a big lottery win. Hehe.

Crocuses are one of first foods available to bees
If you can, squeeze them in wherever you can
They are beautiful and beneficial to wildlife

It was quiet tonight, Simon, but it can be fast moving hour
Waiting for the spring, and everyone to be showing off
The # helps to not miss anyone
Thanks for the comments and support

It wont just be for bee work.
It'll be used for other things, and the options nice.
Currently waiting to send one back to Amazon, as it's faulty already. It lasted an hour!
#BeekeepersHour -
We'll also have bait boxes out
Fancy a race?

Are you thinking of doing this when the swarming season is upon us? We have the benefit from an out apiary to quarantine them first, & would treat with oxalic acid to benefit from their broodless state. As soon as you have brood, do a full disease inspection

@BeekeepersHour the blossom on this tree has appeared 2 months earlier than 2 years ago and a month earlier than last year!

They'll fly, that's clear, but just not direct or side by side. Try to prevent robbing and don't make drifting easy
as far apart as possible would be nice, but not too far if you're moving them in the same apiary after.
#BeekeepersHour -
Quarantine them for a while away from your own, let them settle and then see what they need
They may have had winter treatments already
#BeekeepersHour -
Sounds busy
We've left ours alone as we decided to not interfere with nature, and leave them to it for a while
Lots to do still for spring prep
#BeekeepersHour -
I'm thinking of putting out a bait hive to see if I can nick a new colony. I realise there's risks with disease so how should one treat? Spray with oxalic acid is my immediate thought - anything else?
