    Our Bat Team successfully caught and radio-tracked Northern Myotis this past summer, so they can learn more about their nightly routine. Before release, our researchers offered mealworms to the bats, so they could replenish their energy and go on with their night. 🦇

    Was feeling as tired this morning as this White-lined broad-nosed (Platyrrhinus lineatus). They're found throughout South America and eat fruit. This one was almost adult-sized but still fluffy

    Many migratory bats like this silver-haired bat suffer head trauma after flying into windows during migration. Lucky ones are brought to TWC to be treated. If they heal in time, they're released back to fly south - otherwise, they're cared for here through the winter!

    This hoary bat was found on the ground after hitting a window. In this photo she's given water to keep her hydrated during rehabilitation. Hoary bats are the largest bat species found in Canada and among the most widespread - they can be found from Nunavut to Argentina!

    The Eastern small-footed myotis, another endangered species, is one of the rarest and smallest bats in Ontario. They weigh about as much as a nickel and are identifiable by their black mask and small feet: 6-7mm in length. 🦇
