  9. Brother Julian Assange is not a criminal. He is one of the few last independent journalists who worked to educate us at all cost. He gave up over a decade of his life for us already, and it might become a lot more if he get's extradited. Let's free him now.

    This is the text of , which I have tabled to the Fundamental Rights report, to be voted tomorrow. Opposing the US prosecution of for journalism could not be more urgent. Please get in touch with your MEP and urge them to support this amendment.

    An image of the text of Assange amendment 44, which firms up the language on whistleblowers and journalists and adds reference to the Assange case back into the text of the European Paliament's Report on the situation of fundamental rights in the European Union 2018-2019.

The sentence on Assange reads: "whereas the detention and criminal prosecution of Julian Assange sets a dangerous precedent for journalists as affirmed by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe."
