  2. I painted 'The Crossing' (acrylic on canvas) in 2005, based on a slide that was taken many years earlier, in one of my favourite moose-viewing locations in . My rather tedious technique for doing mist has changed very little over the years, because it works.

  4. I painted 'Isle Des Cedres' (24"x36") a few years back. This island is on one of my favourite stretches of the Petawawa River, in . Its character and apparent size varies with the water level of the river...high in Spring (like this), and quite low in late Summer.

    1920 in : "Morning very fine. I am cutting wood all forenoon & 1 hour afternoon, after which I went & put out wolf baits on ponds on Silver Creek. Saw where a lynx had been chasing a deer across the creek. 10˚ below zero [-23˚C] this morning."

  10. We're getting ready for our first trip of 2020. I can't wait to get out there again - cabin fever dosen't begin to describe how I've been feeling lately. Who else is getng ready for a trip?

  12. I painted 'Twilight Shore' 24"x36" a long time ago, from an October 1988 trip to Burnt Island Lake in , when the low water-level exposed a lot of the lake bed. I like the way that I stylized the textures of the rocks. As usual, I most enjoyed capturing that light.

    1920 in : "...the ground is frozen this morning. I am baking bread & washing clothing, also painting snowshoes. I took pelts of mink & ermine. A most enjoyable day of sunshine. I enjoyed it all. Arthur captured on the 1st a Barrow’s goldeneye duck."

    1920 in : "I went over trapline to East River. Saw where the wolves & foxes are returning to this part of forest. Saw first male downy woodpecker of the season, also white breasted nuthatches, pine grosbeaks, etc. Redpolls are also returning."
