A4: Build stations around problem-solving and team-building. Allow opportunity for student choice. Make sure they understand the goal.

A6 for me, the goal is to vary lessons that allow each person to showcase their strengths. With world languages, students need to be able to speak, read, and not be afraid to get "hands-on" with the language.

Seriously. This shouldn’t be a thing.

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge, resources, and ideas with us tonight. I enjoyed learning from you all!

FA - It takes a village and always be willing to learn as you go so that your students see the value of learning! Model what you expect!

FA: students need a variety of ways to show their learning. Not everyone starts off or finishes the race at the same time. There are so many resources out there to help our students.
#ALedchat -
A7 - the best resource is to lean on other educators who have discovered ways to make it work for them and then use trial and error to see what best works for you and your students! Other educators are the best way to go!

A6: I plan knowing that regardless of how I present the info, someone or a few someones, will need it again. Because of this, I alway plan ahead for small group reteaching while other members of my class have extension activities.
#ALedchat -
A6: 1.short mini lesson whole group 2.Majority of the instruction time having students work in small groups and centers. Each group getting pulled to the table. 3.Short wrap up at the end of lessons whole group

A6 - This is where you have to pay attention to detail so that anyone can come in and understand what you are doing when they enter! You have to plan with each student in mind and not just have a cookie cutter lesson plan!
#ALedchat -
A4: Make groups based on pre-assessment AND student input. Use Google forms to ask students what they need, and skills they feel they need more help with or have mastered. Every group doesn’t need every station.
#ALedchat -
A5: If you are tracking skill mastery over time, then a S should show increasing proficiency w/whatever skill was prioritized w/stations. If they are not, analyze & possibly interview Ss to acknowledge/better understand any misunderstandings. Adjust accordingly.
#ALedchat -
Yeah, we speak so much of “student voice and choice” but then don’t always listen. I have always taken time to connect Ss to a goal, but ultimately I have to set the expectations as the teacher.

A5 - by both formal and informal assessments!

Q5: pre and post tests and exit slips give us an insight on what students are learning. If we continuously check in with our students learning we'll see what is working and what is not. We also must ask our kiddos what tools or types of learning they enjoy as well.
#ALedchat -
Q5: How should teachers assess whether or not the tools used for differentiated learning are effective and purposeful?
