Wrote 443 words (677 w/footnotes) this morning. Took 2x as long, but it's more tightly directed. Turning what I have into REAL content. I feel okay about it! &proud of my writing streak in a hectic week.

DYK: I'm not only on the look-out for new proposals, but also thinking of new topics to seek for our literature lists? I always welcome thoughts for what is missing on your bookshelf! Please share, DM, or likewise shoot me a proposal

Academic Twitter, how long is too long to wait for an article review? I've had one waiting for review in a great journal that I had my heart set on, but it's been 11 months & emails to editor don't make the timeline any clearer.

Another morning of
#AcWri, this time working on revisions. I'm really appreciating the feedback I received from the reviewers and editor and am actually enjoying the process of improving this piece.#RiseAndWrite -

Today I (finally) get to tinker around with the book again, so I'm rediscovering what I wrote during my time at
@uaegean. I *think* this still makes sense, but then it also contains the word 'parrotness'

Ok folks—have managed to block off a couple of days to focus on getting some writing done, must resist the temptation of all the other tasks screaming for my attention & minimize email distraction so I can get some words down—wish me luck!

Are you waiting for inspiration? Try setting yourself a deadline. How about 5:00pm on Fri 7 Feb? Work hard on it this week and then send it off. And to make the deadline more real, tell them it's coming. Or arrange a meeting for next week to get feedback.

It's good to help others, but when all your time is spent helping everyone but yourself & you've no time to write your papers then you need to re-evaluate how you're using your time. Don't keep putting your academic writing at the bottom of the to-do list.

So I didn’t manage to write any words today BUT I did come to the conclusion that I don’t actually need the section that I was intending to write - DOES THAT COUNT?!?

There are a couple of people I'm citing heavily in my
#thesis thesis and whom I follow here on Twitter. Do I dare reach out and thank them for the way their work is contributing to my work and thinking? Is that weird?#gradschool#acwri -
I just encountered—by which I mean edited—a sentence that uses three—three!—sets of em dashes—ordinarily one of my favorite punctuation marks—in 84 words.
