OTD in 1987, the Edmonton F4 tornado occurred. To this day, this remains the strongest documented tornado to hit the province, leaving a path of destruction ~31 km long and up to 1300 m wide in some areas. It killed 27 people and injured 300, destroying more than 300 home.
