In 1993, I was talking with a young woman who fled a literal civil war in Lebanon. She told me the streets of D.C. were worse than Beirut. The gun violence in D.C. was portrayed as a war zone on Married: With Children. Gun violence is all too familiar. #YOUniversallyTriggered

#YOUniversallyTriggered in my 20 years as a Paramedic I responded to many gunshot injuries. Even the most minor caused great emotional trauma. I have seen kids shot by kids. Adults shot by adults, and self inflicted wounds. All are horrible for all involved!

I will hijack this hashtag to offer the alternative: i do not know a single person that has been the victim in whatever way of gun violence. Love to my American friends all the way from southern Germany 🇩🇪 #YOUniversallyTriggered

One of the elementary schools in my district had a shooting when I was in 5th grade. We are now seniors, and the survivors feel like they shouldn’t be affected by it because compared to other shootings “it wasn’t that bad.” Gun culture is too ingrained. #YOUniversallyTriggered

I have near-daily attacks from the fear of a shooting. One day they announced there was “an upset student in the halls” during my second period and I almost burst into tears right then and there. Going to school makes me sick to my stomach. #YouniversallyTriggered
