    I went to a computational science seminar today. I looked around and I realized I was the only woman in the room. Two more women (PIs) joined last minute. Total number of seminar attendees = 28. I just felt I needed to share this.

    Have also been told this by colleagues & faculty. Can we stop telling that there is something wrong with their voices? Masculinizing a voice to be 'taken seriously' says that it is not ok to be feminine in science. IT IS.

    A "dream team" of 3 women and 2 men were able to isolate and sequence the coronavirus within 48 hours of the diagnosis of the first 2 patients in Italy. The Spallanzi Institute is led by a woman and employs 30 researchers, majority of whom are women

    This is Dr. Marie Maynard Daly. She was the first black woman to earn a PhD in chemistry in the US. She studied the health effects of cholesterol, sugar, and smoking on human tissues. Dr. Daly’s detailed studies still inform us today!

    Some people will have trouble dealing with u as a leader/influencer if u don’t fit the stereotype in their head. U may feel undermined, bypassed or gaslighted by them. This is to validate yr feelings. U’r not making a ‘big deal’ of it. Continue to assert yrself.
