Spotted pardalotes are one of my absolute favourites. Their delicate polka dots are too adorable! Often seen high up in the canopy, we were lucky to get one in the nets.

Apparently my monitoring equipment makes great shelters for Peron’s tree frogs. Found these cute little blighters sitting on the acoustic recorder when I removed the monitoring camera that was above it

We only have one species of
#frog here - the Sudell’s Frog (Neobatrachus sudellae). They’re a burrowing frog that are adapted to living in the#desert. They spend years buried under the ground, waiting for rain. Once it does rain the desert sounds like this

Collared Sparrowhawk... saw one briefly in the garden this morning, photos from an earlier visit... starting to see a few more raptors about now

We received 50 mm of rain at the reserve over the weekend! That’s more
#rain than we got in the whole of 2019! All the clay pans and gilgais in the area are full of water. Even the#frogs have come out!

Being awesome can be exhausting & a wombat can need a little down time. Time for a little afternoon sun nap.

My favourite tawny frogmouth is back in the tree next to my bedroom, lulling me to sleep with its soft, deep & continuous "oom, oom, oom." Notice its weak feet that don't have curved talons - different to owls. Love their scruffy, wide-mouthed face.
