    Sometimes people ask me why we are doing all this. Polina, her mother Olga, and her little brother slept in the cold car for three days, ate nothing warm and saw no bathroom. Her father stayed behind. But they endure - and even laugh. This is why!

    These young people sit by the phone in Lublin day and night and coordinate the offers of help from volunteers. Hundreds of people here in eastern Poland provide housing free of charge. The solidarity of the people is impressive.

    The number of refugees from Ukraine who have crossed to Poland, Hungary, Romania, Moldova and other countries is escalating and is now 368,000. The governments and people of those countries are welcoming refugees. It is now urgent to share this responsibility in concrete ways.

    Refugees are people who have fled war, violence, conflict or persecution and have crossed an international border to find safety in another country. Sadly seems unable to grasp the concept. Refugees should NOT br asked to apply for a visa.
