    Abuse is all too common in the HE sector. I’m in awe of the women who came forward to speak so bravely about their experiences in this series. They have been badly let down by the universities which continue to protect their abusers. There needs to be justice.

    A year ago, Johnny Depp lost the libel case he brought against The Sun, who called him a "wife beater". The judge accepted Amber Heard's evidence as The Sun's witness: "I accept that Mr Depp put her in fear of her life." It remains a victory for courageous truth against all odds.

    Best avail data from the UK (CPS) indicates false reports are in order of 0.6%, with a male 230 times more likely to be sexually assaulted / raped themselves than to be falsely accused of sexual assault. TL;DR? False reports are extremely rare.

    Simple fact: by a factor of a billion, more women's careers have been ruined by explicit or implicit threats of legal action or other retribution for speaking up, than men's careers have been ruined by allegations of wrongdoing.
