It’s time to reckon with this. It’s been alarming to hear the rush to condemn the sheriff’s deputies for their justifiable fear in Parkland in contrast to the refusal to condemn ofcrs who say fear caused them to kill unarmed, #AkaiGurley, #TerrenceCrutcher, #Tamir and on and on.

When a cop is so afraid he won’t go into a school after a shooter, he’s a coward not doing his job and blamed for the loss of life. But, when a cop is so afraid he shoots an unarmed black man dead in the street, he’s a hero doing a tough job and his actions are justified.
