John Tory’s “promise” of no real property tax increases over next four years will coincide with four years of cuts from the province. City will have to make massive cuts.

  3. Yes, this is 100% the worst Doug Ford video you will watch today:

"Efficiencies," I shouted, pumping my fist in the air as a surge of sewer water carried me down King. A woman in a submerged car nodded. As the fire department pulled her from a would-be watery grave, she gratefully exclaimed, "keep my property tax at or below inflation!"

And now, a flood update from Ontario cabinet minister Lisa MacLeod.

John Tory's campaign manager used fake social media accounts to promote his client Rob Ford's run for mayor Managed the most racist xenophobic campaign in recent history for Kelly Leitch and broke into a bar to steal booze

I'm so angry, I'm going to wait a couple of weeks and then I'm going to write a stern letter.

If you're a John Tory supporter (and are not reliant on him or his campaign in any way for your well-being), please tell me why. Which policies, projects, attributes, reasons, make John Tory - over all others - so compelling a candidate for you? Much appreciated.

  10. Utterly depressing to hear PC MPP after PC MPP talk about beer in the legislature. I am quite sure there are larger issues to be dealt with.

The owner of this cat cafe spoils a disabled teen's birthday, *claims* she was given special permission to discriminate and ban wheelchair users & she will shut her business down if she's forced to allow wheelchair users inside.

Toronto Star reader poll goes horribly wrong: Should Doug Ford cut Toronto city council in half right now? Yes. It will save money and be good for democracy: 68.77% (3,711 votes) No. Timing is bad and consultation is needed: 31.23% (1,685 votes)

The clapping from random staffers continued today at press conference...drowning out reporters

"The morning Ford was to announce his plan, Tory held a press conference. Not one councillor by his side. No plan to fight Ford’s sabotage – on the contrary, he offered a referendum to legitimize it."

Today, Doug Ford is shutting down democratic debate & consultation on his reckless plans to slash city council & meddle in Toronto’s elections. We can stop this is with a last-minute flood of public pressure to conservative MPPs and Minister Clark:

This is going well. We should totally let this team, with its immaculate attention to detail, decide what's good for Toronto.

If people knew how hard communities had to fight to get rid of TAVIS—all the public meetings, sit ins, teach ins, deputations, interviews, op-eds, protests, letters & phone calls, all the children consoled—you'd feel sick to your stomach right now. I know I certainly do.

Wanted: Adult politicians ready to have an honest public conversation about needs and benefits of slightly higher taxes or deep service cuts to fund priorities. It's an either or, choose your poison. We can't keep having life-altering floods each time there's heavy rain.

This is a commitment this city desperately needs

SmartTrack wasn't just an off-the-cuff promise. It was Tory's central plank. He had a flashy website that told visitors - based on imagination - how much time they'd save commuting from stations that do not, and will never exist. This mayor does not deserve re-election.
