Results for the is not nearly as bad as foreign press said. Swedish Democrats (far right) were predicted to gain 28-30% of the vote yet only received 17. 6% (+4.7%). So they won't have any ministers - won't be in any Coalition govt. Good news. .

Rather tired of seeing ppl from the UK & US advocating Sweden vote in SD when they know nothing about the party, their manifesto or the political system. You guys have bigger problems in your own back yard right?

I don't care if this sounds racist or as islamophobia , In western Europe we have some values, and muslim community is not respecting them, instead, they're getting advantage of it and of your good willing and excessive tolerance. Just STOP IT. Thanks.

predictions have far right at around 20% , though recent research suggests Swedes have lowest anti immigration/nationalist attitudes in Europe (Italians the highest). Join me on ⁦⁩ from 19GMT for results and reactions

Would appreciate to see it reported this way: in EU country with largest number of refugees per capita, 82% of voters did NOT vote for far-right nativists

  6. Sep 9

82.4% of voters reject far-right Bannonite Swedish Democrats in . Disappointed far-right did as well as it did; but glad for this rejection of hate politics. And glad coalition of Social Democratic Party, Greens and the Left narrowly leads conservative Alliance.

A few reflections on Sweden's exit polls 1. The centre-left Social democrats average 25.8% in exit polls -this would be their lowest vote for more than a century (since 1908). The decline of social democracy in Europe continues

Not everyone in Sweden supports limiting immigration. Hear one very emotional voter sharing her thoughts on an open society in my report for The World This Weekend by clicking here and scrolling to 18:07

  10. 90% of votes in, and it looks like YouGov, which had the Sweden Democrats leading at 25% in September were way off this time. All other polls had them between 17-20%, so accurate. And, SD not even close to 2nd place.

  11. Sweden allows people to change their mind after they’ve voted and vote again. Officials at polling station in Stockholm Central Station tell us plenty of people have been doing that. Around 20% of voters believed to be uncertain who to back going into last day

    - You are no longer reporting the rise of the far right in Europe. You are championing it. More than 80% of the Swedish population rejected the Far right. Your reporting suggests they have won in a landslide. election

  13. I'm done for tonight. Final thought on . Intl coverage was generally low-quality and lazy, exploiting sensationalist talking points. Significant stereotyping of immigrants, the vast majority of whom are good law-abiding people who just want to work and live a life.

No matter how the turns out, the reporting from abroad has often been wildly innacurate. does an excellent job into explaining why that is.

Disappointing result for the far-right in . Predicted to be the largest or second largest party, they end up third with 17%. Sweden puts a halt to the far-right movement and populism in Europe!

Voter streams of show that they held on to almost all its 2014 voters and won almost exclusively, and equally, from center left S and center right M. Particularly painful for M, which was in opposition to S-led govt

  18. 🇸🇪 🇺🇸 How to in Sweden: Simply by voting. With 82.4 % of the people voting for a mainstream party, they didn’t give populism much chance. Perhaps a good tactic to use in the U.S. November elections as a first step to return to normality?

coverage of the is text book leftist bias and distortion of facts. Remarkable that a state broadcaster can get away with such a performance.

As a person with Nordic heritage and family in Sweden, Denmark and Latvia, I'm so sad to see the far right on the march in tolerant, balanced nations. I'm hoping today that Swedes reject extremism and vote away the hate. 👊♥️
