  7. If you haven't yet read this statement from Coalfire CEO Tom McAndrew, you need to. This case comes down to a Sheriff who didn't like that the effectiveness of his deputies were being tested by the state. It's a shameful abuse of power and lack of common sense.

    We all feel for the two pentesters who were jailed for simply doing their job. You've probably seen their mugshots. Now see the person who put them behind bars - Sheriff Chad Leonard. We deserve to see his face as much as the two charged.

    Much respect and appreciation to for doing this. This is a great example of how strong the InfoSec/CyberSec community really is.

  13. Dallas County IA needs to figure out the difference between real burglars and an authorized pen test. Hint: they're helping you. Well, at least they were before Sheriffs overracted, arrested, and charged them. Ridiculous.

  15. This is important! So glad in the long run the county attorney got this right. Also good on for keeping a positive message even though they'd be well within their rights to blast this Sherriff for creating this situation.
