László Nemes' Oscar-winning masterpiece #SonOfSaul depicts the horrors of Auschwitz with an unflinching eye. Though deeply disturbing, it’s definitely not to be missed. A film that has to be seen no matter what.
#SonOfSaul (2015 - Hungarian)
A haunting portrait of the horrors of the Holocaust.
Lead actor's performance could have been better.
GOOD historical war drama👌⭐️7.5/10
“Most of the stories of the Holocaust were never told.”
#SonOfSaul, set in Auschwitz, is one of the most powerful films I’ve seen. Director Laszlo Nemes was guest at Bogdanow Holocaust Event
"#ToDust is a darkly comic film with a wonderfully complex performance of deadpan delivery and deep sadness from #SonofSaul star Geza Rohrig. Shawn Snyder's directorial feature debut take on death is remarkably honest, even grounded, and quite literal."🌟🌟🌟1/2 #SeeIt
Sonderkommandos - Jewish prisoners who were forced to either aid with the disposal of gas chamber victims during the Holocaust or be killed.
What would your ethics push you to do: Survive or lead thousands to their certain, brutal deaths?
Son of Saul (Nemes, 2015) is a masterpiece. The direction is perefect along with the cinematography and the sound design. The acting is great. A must-see! #sonofsaul
x awakening lost memories of my lecture at the conference “Photographs from the Camps of the Nazi Regime”, in my case, particularly relating to the film #SonofSaul held in
Polish Jewish woman Ala Gertner was born in Będzin in 1912. She was incarcerated in Auschwitz in August 1943. She worked in 'Union' munition factory from where together with other women she smuggle gunpowder to Sonderkommando resistance. She was hanged on 6 January 1945.
I would say #SonOfSaul counts, Michael. Great thinking. The film is a proper condemnation of the nazis. The movie offers little hope and doesn’t hold back from the evils of fascism.
Son of Saul ★★★½
I betcha even Michael Haneke approves of this holocaust film. #LászlóNemes' directorial debut depicts the horrors of concentration camp life. It's only the second Hungarian film to win Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars, the first being Szabó's Mephisto.
