Serra’s album was found in 1942 in Kraśniczyn, at the side of the road along which the German Jews were herded to the ghetto in Krasnystaw. This unique memento of the Adlers’ lives is preserved in our archives. It restores the identity of some of the 180,000 victims of #Sobibór.

Marking #WorldRefugeeDay today reminds us of the need to fight for a more inclusive and equal world. In 1939, hundreds of Jewish refugees fled Nazi Germany aboard the MS St. Louis. But they were denied refuge in Cuba, the US, and Canada. Many later perished in the Holocaust.

More #Sobibor. There is precious little to see on site. But one chilling building has survived. This house was the residence of the two camp commanders of the Sobibor extermination camp, Franz Stangl (April 1942-September 1942) & Franz Reichleitner (September 1942 - 1943).
