    This juvenile Piping Plover looks like a lazy bird until it moves, and then it's all darting energy in search of food. I could only follow it with my camera and wouldn't attempt to keep pace as it outstripped other birds down the beach. I got this shot in a rare pause.

    Story of loss : this Pied Oyster-catcher nest perched on a dune stack near St. Helens, Tasmania, had parents earlier in summer, when they were seen being harassed by a dog. Deserted eggs still there, addled, dead. Please control dogs on beaches, stop these sad stories.

    Jiangsu's territory is by the roost zone. When birds wake & want to feed, she attacks. All fly off roost around same time. Birds then attack her 'til she returns to her territory & feeds alone.

    All birds were released successfully, and the stints & sandpipers will soon be off north along the Pacific flyway, via Indonesia and China. Thanks ! Many of our sp. are threatened, so keeping a close 👀 on populations & behaviour will be key for the future.

    YALL!!!! I accidentally found a willet nest at my site! Immediately adjacent to the road!!! WOW! I’ve never seen a shore bird nest EVER before!!!!! Sound on!
