    Please read.. At 2am one night, I was arrested in the doorway I was sleeping in and taken to court the next day. My charge? Sleeping rough and begging for money under the Vagrancy Act.

    Quite right. Criminalising begging is not only cruel & immoral but also counterproductive as increases vulnerability rather than supporting people out of need. Time for get rid of the Vagrancy Act 1824 which criminalises begging & rough sleeping in England & Wales

    A very significant judgment has been issued by today: the criminalisation of begging on a public street is contrary to Art 8 ECHR. The Court discusses extensively the applicant's vulnerability, caused by extreme . Judgment currently only available in French.

    Brilliant news that Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick said today in Parliament that the Vagrancy Act 1824 should be 'consigned to history'. Looking forward to hearing more about plans to repeal this outdated and unhelpful legislation which criminalises rough sleeping.

    Surely the SNP aren’t ignoring that the Scottish Parliament voted to repeal their hated Football Act?

    Filming and harassing fans during a non event friendly. The Act is gone, but fans are for now, still viewed and treated as potential criminals. This needs to change.

    It's staggering to me that homelessness in this country is criminalised. Homelessness is a tragic, preventable situation, which we should be bending over backwards to end, as a society; homelessness is not a crime.
