A3 Principals have the opportunity to see great teaching throughout the building Ask teachers to share out a mini-lesson at the beginning of a fac mtg, or even show a short video-clip. Foster teacher-led discussion. Best PD often comes from within the school

A3 If we want Ts to engage in PD we have to offer sessions that interest them. I find that book studies (with choice), Edcamp style PD, inquiry PD, & PLAYdates work well. All of them include choice.

A2: I’ve often felt that schools should be focused on “what do our students need to experience?” instead of “what do our children need to@learn?” This model does the same for faculty; experiential PD can be a huge advantage in this way

A1: One of the best answers I've every heard was: We personalize medical care, financial decisions, what we eat, then why shouldn't we personalize PD. It should be what the person needs and wants to be successful.

A1: There is no doubt that we live in one of the most exciting times in the history of education. Professional growth opportunities are now available with a few taps of the screen or clicks of the mouse. Educators can also network and learn at an Edcamp or CoffeeEDU

A1: Personalized PD lets educators take control. I know where I need to improve, strategies for content literacy I’d like to practice/learn before using them in class, and I know how I prefer to learn/receive PD.

A1: it’s important that educators build upon their own strengths and weaknesses. Personalized PD does that. Looking at trends and developing PD based on that doesn’t always work. Personalized PD makes educators better.

A1: We need to make PD something that is meaningful and relevant to each educator. Gone are the days of one size fits all sessions that everyone has to sit through. Or at least they should be gone!

  20. A1: Educators need personalized PD just like students need personalized and differentiated instruction. We have such little time for teacher PD, so we must make it meaningful and practical based on what the teachers need.
