    On Tuesday 12 people including 2 children were found safely. Nearly fours years ago, 71 people including 4 children were found dead. All because governments evade responsibilities, refuse & sustain a world from which smugglers profit:

    Nearly 4 years since uproar followed the death & image of a little boy on a Turkish beach. Yet governments are even more inhumanly set on refusing , empowering smugglers & obstructing people who save lives. And so after hundreds more children have died, another image:

    Once again a dead child's image (with her dead father) is making headlines. Will outrage & heartbreak be catalyst this time for real, lasting change of policy (& rhetoric) to end these tragedies? Or will it pass again while hundreds or thousands more children continue to die?

    is threatening to not register "migrants" in their system when disembarkation so that people can go anywhere. What kind of leverage?! The safety of people on the boat should be sufficient as a means of pressure.

    This is my AMAZING 12 year old daughter who has written this poem for school about refugees from bits she picked up from when I was nursing on a refugee camp a couple of years ago.

    Today is International Refugee Day. So far in 2019: 519 people have drowned in the Mediterranean trying to reach Europe. 19,818 people have been stopped and transferred back to Turkey. We take this opportunity to say: refugees welcome here.
