    Our Emergency Response Vehicles have been supporting emergency services on since fires broke out on Monday. So far, we have handed out 1,000 drinks, 600 Mars Bars and used 40 loaves of bread to make into sandwiches to keep crews energised.

    There seems to be a strong correlation with where the fire has been raging, and the tell-tale signs of intensively-managed grouse moor. Dry, burned heather is surely ideal tinder. Is this just coincidence?

    I want to thank all the agencies that are working together in tackling the dreadful fires on Saddleworth Moor. In extreme temperatures they are battling bravely to get the fire under control, showing our superb public services work together in protecting us all
