    1/ Saxony held a state election in September, in which the CDU again lost ground to the AfD, barely keeping a majority. This is -NOT- that map. I was more interested in May, when all of Germany voted for EU Parliament. In that vote, candidates ( )

    Germany: In yesterday's regional elections, the right-wing AfD (ID) and the left-wing Tierschutzpartei (GUE/NGL) got their best election result in a regional election. AfD received 27.5% in Saxony and Tierschutzpartei got 2.6% in Brandenburg.

    Merkel's center-right Christian Democrats (CDU) remain strongest party in with just over 32%. Center-left Social Democrats (SPD) hold on to top spot in with 26.2%.

    Works the other way round too. The AfD got 27.5% and 23.5% of the overall vote in Saxony and Brandenburg.. but it got 41% resp 36% of the 2014 non-voters who decided to come out this time. Increased turnout didn't hurt the AfD, it helped it
