    This is a lie. does not legalize pedophilia. It just ends the disparity in sentencing requirements between same-sex and opposite-sex stat rape offenders — something that was supported by public defenders, prosecutors, police unions, AND sexual assault survivor advocates.

    Pedophilia on its way to being recognized as a protected lifestyle. Congratulations, California. And happening nationally if Biden gets to fill the courts.

    California passed with a 6-2 vote, a bill that will no long require a 24 year old to register as a sex offender if they have sex with a 14 year old. This bill is truly for pedophiles. It is now up to the Governor to veto it or pass it into law.

    I couldn’t agree more and it was a cowardly move by Gavin Newsom to sign this on a Friday night. This law AND the 10 year age gap MUST BE REPEALED. As the parent of a teenage daughter I am appalled. Thanks to the Reps who voted No, & the handful of Dems that opposed.

    Gay, straight, doesn’t matter. California needs to get rid of the 10 year age gap. A 24 year old who has sex with a 14 year is not mandated to register as a sex offender in CA. Judge’s discretion instead. That’s disgusting, but it’s been CA law for a long time. It’s indefensible.

    Only a would support - A bill introduced by CA Senator which would waive a sex offender being registered as such so long as the victim and assailant are within 10 yrs. So a 20 year old could rape a 10 year old and not be labeled.
