Fraud has been on the rise during the pandemic and scam artists are more pervasive and sophisticated. Join this week's
#SASchat on Friday, Nov. 19 to hear how scams are changing + how to stop fraud before it occurs. https://www.sas.com/sas/events/saschat/hiding-in-plain-sight-the-rise-of-global-fraud-scams.html …#FraudWeekpic.twitter.com/meZcvLY96o

Hi
#SASchat. Kevin from the SAS EMEA IoT Industry Consulting team.#SASchat#IoT#EnergyForecasting -
A3: I'll be honest: had to look up this one
But it all makes perfect sense: https://cquant.io/2018/03/20/duck-with-a-side-of-energy-storage-why-batteries-pair-perfectly-with-high-penetration-solar/ … #SASchat#EnergyForecasting https://twitter.com/sasforums/status/1459164079650746369 …pic.twitter.com/OC5CN594pF

Q2: What impact can climate change have on forecasting?

Q6: With the adoption of EVs, how does this affect future planning of chargers?

A6:
@sasforums There are many#EV topics impacting#electricutilities. The siting of#fleet#charging is one that we are working on.#SASchat https://twitter.com/sasforums/status/1459169367736860677 …pic.twitter.com/5OeJK5MIMS

A4:
#SASchat#EnergyForecasting#IoT DER have and will have a huge impact on forecasting needs for utilities. Renewables are in general not programmable, so to keep balanced the grid Utilities need to continuously forecast the expected production of each generation plant -
A3:
@SASforums QUACK?! The duck curve is a term to describe the shape of curve for the#net#load#forecast as the#renewable output decreases later in the day. The top graph illustrates the duck curve on our@SASsoftware campus, where we have a 2 MW#solar farm.#SASchat https://twitter.com/sasforums/status/1459164079650746369 …pic.twitter.com/9g3tvxsnba

Distributed Energy Resources push the forecast to be more granular (substation, circuit, or meter level) in order to correctly understand the demand and supply interaction. More volatility in demand and supply creates a need for smaller time periods.

“Duck Curve” occurs when solar penetration creates a dip in net load at midday as gen. peaks, followed by increased peak demand at sunset—creating two humps. Duck Curve can create grid reliability challenges esp. where there’s no automated frequency response.

A5:A real peer to peer exchange basically enlarging the possibility of the common citizen participate actively in the energy market not only as a consumer but also as a prosumer even more deeply engaged compared with what we have today
#saschat#EnergyForecasting -
Q3: Forecasting this properly helps utilities schedule generation resources optimally.EVs are best charged during low-load hours, so utilities need to forecast effects of time-of-use pricing to make sure the shift does not cause a shift to a new peak.
#SASchat#EnergyForecasting -
The era of centralized energy production is coming to a end, more and more decentralized production units will arrive to the market making it even more difficult to predict energy needs in a old fashion way
#saschat#EnergyForecasting -
A1:Forecasting exercises could been applied across several different business process from Finance, operations, planning and daily trading, I’m seeing the most usage is in regards of securing a straight and defendable energy forecasting process
#saschat#EnergyForecasting -
A2: Climate change is bringing more frequent and more extreme weather events. There is a direct link between weather and energy - not just storms, but water (for hydro facilities), cloud cover for solar, wind speed, & droughts resulting in wildfires.
