    Major escalation involving detecting powered in Russian territorial waters & demanding it to surface, which was ignored, followed by reports of some limited exchange, awaiting confirmation.

    Russian MoD claims that today at 10:40 MSK a Virginia-class SSN was detected IN Russian territorial waters near Urup island (one of the Kurils), near the zoned of Pacific Fleet exercise. Marsh.Shaposhnikov frigate found it, communicated the demand to surface immediately. 1/
