    Large animals shape habitats, accelerate the nutrient cycle, move nutrients over landscapes and seascapes. This is why holding onto the matters for the biosphere, as does and restoring megafauna where possible.

    1/2 is a HUGE problem. To suggest otherwise is folly. I'm a fan George but you can't seriously discount the massively negative effects inherent to 8 billion plus ppl. You want mass but population is the single biggest driver of habitat destruction.
