    The protection of Australia’s threatened species could be improved by a factor of seven, if more efficient ‘umbrella’ species were prioritised.... including the Red Goshawk! Based on their tracking data I can see why!

    Came across this feeding on a mule in yesterday. are often struck by cars when feeding on roadkill. is leading a multi-state effort to study such impacts in the American West.

    Going through nest cameras and found this gem. A young red-tailed hawk (right side of the frames) tried to grab a Swainson's Hawk nestling for an easy meal. Dad comes in to save the day - cue surprised red-tail.

    We also got a gorgeous juvenile harrier (or as I like to call them, the pumpkin spice lattes of the marsh) who looks exceptionally regal for a bird who just got banded.

    Joined ’s crew in putting GPS transmitters on some Northern Harriers! Transmitters help us understand how these birds migrate and the types of habitat they use the most. Excited to see where this lady goes in the coming months!

    Winter trapping is off to a good start! Two adult females, a juvenile female, and a juvenile male. Good diversity for day one, but our target gray ghost remained elusive. *Trapped and banded with permits*
