Formal charges have been filed against officer Matthew Terry. @LVMPD has said once that happened, the northwest area command officer would be “relieved of duty” without pay. Officers were speaking with a female victim when a man came outside the home holding a gun, pointing it at his chin, Splinter said. The man was “very irate” and confrontational with officers, she said. #RJnow

An officer arrived within five minutes of the call, but the woman didn’t answer the door for about two minutes. The officer found the girl lying face down, fully clothed in a bathtub. #RJnow

Bill Cleary, a resident at the apartment complex, said the area is usually quiet. He doesn’t remember seeing the child around, but said “I hate to see stuff like that happen.” There’s been a lot of neighbors near the police tape out here. #RJnow

There was a prior domestic disturbance call to the home this morning, although Spencer did not release further information about the details of that call. #RJnow

About 3 p.m., the woman called 911 to report her child was drowning. She ignored instructions from the dispatcher to take the girl out of the water or perform CPR, homicide Lt Ray Spencer said. #RJnow

The mother and child were the only people in the home at the time, although police are searching for a man believed to be the woman’s boyfriend or husband. Police don’t believe he is involved in the child’s death, but he is wanted for questioning. #RJnow
