So gvt wants to ban ptrl and dsl cars by 2035, I live in a flat,no driveway and there are only 8 charge points in my town, this basically means in 2035 I'm banned from owning a car and as a wlchair user this effectively makes me housebound as public transport is poor.

So the UK will no longer have /diesel/hybrids by 2035. This is from the same bunch of goons who can't set up a high speed rail line for half of a small island yet they're going to create a whole new infrastructure for this in 15yrs? Dreaming , sell out clown.

It's taken the UK nearly 20 years to agree on a third runway at Heathrow. Quite how the establishment plan on installing a nationwide electric vehicle charging infrastructure in 15 years is terrifyingly hilarious. Maybe Greta's dad can help?

It's best we not look at this as all petrol cars banned in 15 years but 15 years to make the production of electric cars or others more environmentally friendly. Batteries are quite toxic and the materials can end up being much more of a problem than we're trying to solve

Scottish gov plans to have Scotland's road free from Petrol and Diesel cars by 2032. While England and Wales target is 2035. Should the Scottish Gov look to bring this forward a few years? And are you happy to swap your car for an electric car?

Boris brings forward ban on new cars 5 yrs to 2035. So buy one then and you can still run it for 10/15 years. What’s galling is the Green Lobby are now attacking the govt about how they are going to dispose of all the batteries!

cars will become liquid hydrogen. Electric will become the Betamax

I think this is fantastic news for the planet. An aggressive target maybe, but we need a line in the sand to aim for. Looking forward to my 2035 Tesla Sport!

The National Grid can’t cope with 25million electric cars charging at any point in the future, so petrol and diesel cars will be here until at least the end of the century. Electric cars aren’t the green solution, they have large carbon footprints

There are many people dissing electric before even looking into its merits. It's faster, cleaner, environmental friendly and healthier. As for the infrastructure. The cars will be mostly charged over night while you're asleep. Each home in the UK has a capable 100 amps.

What a load of bollocks! Very disappointed the Tories are pushing this. Totally unrealistic and half arsed targets. Liberal, luvvie, green nutters, lobbying the government. More spineless leadership.

The UK is to ban all diesel and petrol cars from 2035 rather than 2040 as previously. The aim is to kick start the international climate change conference in Glasgow. Problem is, the 2 top polluters, China and the USA, are still in “not listening…” mode.😙

How do we install millions of private charging points outside houses without driveways, garages and front gardens?

  15. 4. velj

The government want to ban and vehicles in favour of power. Do you agree with them?

  16. 4. velj

Yes millions and millions of batteries that will have to be disposed of??? That was my worry too!

  17. Who is going to pay for the new power stations that are required? How many needed? Charging points grow on trees? Everyone got £30k to buy a soulless EV? Oh yes and everyone has a drive don't they.. Utter nonsense.

  18. This is replacing one problem with another. Has anyone thought how used car batteries are going to be dealt with or damage to the environment from mining lithium ion or the environmental impact of transporting other products used in their manufacture?

Not many of the spice girls can carry petrol. But Geri can.

  20. Odgovor korisniku/ci

    Coal > diesel > electric That’s progress....
