    It looks like Hootsuite fired Sam, the first worker there to bring external attention to their ICE contract. , this is shameful & completely nullifies the goodwill you recently got. We should celebrate workers who raise ethical issues, not punish them.

    As of yesterday morning I am no longer employed by Hootsuite. I’m not sure what I can and can’t say about my departure, but I assume it’s fair to say (and also probably obvious) that it was not my decision to leave.

    . fired Sam for speaking out about their ICE contract. Even though Hootsuite rescinded the contract, they're taking it out on employees who stood up and did the right thing. Sam is a HERO for what she did. She needs our support right now.

    Oh and one very last thing, and I feel gross even adding this, but I am very suddenly without income and ineligible for EI. I have an emergency fund but I’m already worried about how long it will last during a pandemic and recession.

    We are really done with Palantir execs claiming that they're just about "stopping terror attacks." Palantir fuels ICE. Palantir's tech has been used in the biggest ICE raids. It's been used to target families. This is about human rights.

    The violent systems designed in the name of capitalism are outright awarding ppl for entrepreneurial oppression tactics. We've seen this before and defunding is a necessary step in combatting these predatory tactics

    . is going public, they want 2 continue making $$$ off contracts with ICE & DOD Contracts with ICE are unethical. They enable a rogue agency 2 commit human rights violations. If our investments reflect our values, so it's time 2

    . is going public—they want to continue profiting off deportations by ICE. Why should we NOT invest in Palantir? If Palantir refuses to take accountability, it is up to us to intentionally choose how we invest our money.

    Customers are putting pressure on businesses to make ethical choices! Tech companies must take a stand against the atrocities happening in our borders+ beyond. United we have the power to make noise & have these changes made. Let's do the same w/ govt 👀

    We typically do not make public facing statements about specific customers or contracts. However, due to the attention around this particular case we can confirm that Hootsuite has decided not to do business with the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

    I would love to make a toolkit about organizing your engineering workplace, things to look out for in project ethics, etc. I know of the movement and signed that pledge but I don't recall any other orgs/mvts doing this work
