Flloyd was born Bryan Chalmers in Tampa, Florida, in 1964. He was the second of four kids for Jerry and Eleanor. Mom was a waitress and Dad worked for Delta Airlines. Even though they were a very middle- class family, and Bryan was just a kid, he felt that he was a jet-setter. School wasn’t great for Bryan. He was good at math, and art too, but he was ostracized and bullied. At 14 years old he discovered gay bars and drag shows. He fit in there and his course was set. When he was 18 years old he met RuPaul and a 20-year best friendship began. They moved to New York City together in 1983 when he was 19 and they couch-surfed for many years. He became Flloyd and worked as a go-go dancer at New York City’s Pyramid Club, did drag performance art, was in bands, and worked most successfully in the S&M business. Flloyd has made several short films, a television show, and a feature film. He now pays his bills with Sister Green, his cleaning company.
