    pet safety With festivities & fireworks expected for the week PLEASE keep your pets in or if they need to go into the garden after dark use a lead. Also remember that fireworks at this time of year are not just being let off at times we would expect.

    What if everyone who attended the NYE fireworks in Sydney made a $10 donation, and instead of a celebration it became a massive fundraiser for bushfire victims and the incredible RFS volunteers?

    It wasn’t until I watched it, with news banners flagging further bushfire alerts underneath and so many suffering, that I felt this was a major mistake. And history may well see it as such.

    Sydney's are certainly not as good as usual bcuz the air is thick with smoke, visibility is not as clear as it normally is. The city looks terrible. A total waste of $6.5 million that could've gone to firies & farmers 🐝

    We want everyone to enjoy but a couple requests, please: ▪️ Don't drive intoxicated. Make smart choices. ▪️ Enjoy the fireworks, but don't stop on highways, highway ramps, shoulders, etc., to do so. Please. It's not safe.

    just switched the TV off... I can't watch these fireworks. Worse is listening to weasel words from politicians of all hues making expedient arguments. I ask the question: what event would be seen as sufficiently serious to cancel the fireworks?

    Inappropriate after days of national fire disaster. Tone deaf on the part of civic leaders. Deadly to wild birds. Distressing to domestic animals. Toxic to the environment... Needless to say, for so many reasons we’re boycotting tonight. Celebrate nature instead.
