    The Green Wattle Creek Fire, which has burnt through over 278,700ha in the Wollondilly area, is now Contained! This fire started on the 27th Nov 2019, and has had tragic devastating impacts, but it is a huge achievement by so many to reach containment tonight.

    Another tough day for firefighters and communities across NSW.

    At 6pm there are 70 fires burning, 30 are not contained. There are 2,200 firefighters in the field. Widespread thunderstorms and lightning strikes today may produce new ignitions. Cooler conditions have seen reduced fire activity across most firegrounds today.

    Green bursts of life returning to forests burnt out in early November (Forster, NSW Mid North Coast). A long, long way to go, and sadly not all forests will recover like this. Still, an encouraging and hopeful start.

    Building Impact Assessments teams continue to work across southern NSW firegrounds. Since last Saturday a further 7 homes have been destroyed however 16 have been saved with assessments continuing.

    I was looking at Australia trends earlier, and reading the most heart-rending stories. The bravery of the firefighters and the people is beyond belief. The fires continue to burn all over and elsewhere

  15. And we were getting wafting smoke in those blustery winds in the inner west Sydney before midnight and still can. It's a no sun kinda day

    At midnight, 64 bush and grass fires are burning in NSW, 27 still to be contained. The Calabash Fire in the Snowy Monaro remains at Watch and Act with all other fires at Advice. Crews will use more favourable conditions overnight to strengthen containment lines.
