    We honor Deputy Probation Officer Guadalupe Garcia, Special Programs Unit. We thank her for working diligently to balance the needs of the youth and recognizing victimization and trauma and the impact this has youth’s behaviors.

  11. Victims are never to blame. This and we need to work to end the prevalence of victim blaming when those who have experienced trauma come forward. We all need to listen to and learn how to support, not judge or criticize, survivors.

  14. Today I joined crime survivors in Springfield, where we emphasized the need for more trauma recovery centers in our state. Our ability to create a safer Illinois requires a transformation of the way we spend our resources and how we think about cycles of crime & violence.
