See this notch at sea level? That is magnetite literally scraping away calcite from a limestone island https://images.app.goo.gl/Wnfa5F5Vp44zEn8M6 …

Just been looking at some stats for
#mincup2019 & I'm bowled over. During the cup the tweets from this account alone earned over 3.4 MILLION impressions! thats a lot of new people. so here is a massive *HELLO* to all the non-geo people we've reached from all of us on geotwitter! pic.twitter.com/9rFfIbP7BC -
I’m voting for
#TeamCalcite - an important mineral for biomineralisation. Particularly interesting in echinoderms, where the individual ossicles are made from one crystal of calcite! Here’s a rare cidarid echinoid I found at Penarth, in Wales, a couple of days ago.#MinCup2019 pic.twitter.com/f4W1oTJdHV

Apparently I have an opinion on this one. Organisms called chitons precipitate teeth of magnetite and use them to scrape food off the rocks because of higher hardness of magnetite. Leaves notch at tropical island sea level. So magnetite beats calcite literally

Good ideas: Devorating your home or office with beautiful artwork of the
#MinCup2019 contenders. Phoebe is setting aside a portion of each sale to go towards a student geo conference travel fund (we’re still working on details, whoops!) https://twitter.com/PhoebeSleath/status/1199666207437283328 …
