    One thing I think the news about STRI, and , more generally, really highlights is how pervasive academic hierarchies are and how much they condition bystanders into not saying anything or intervening because they think they don't have any power.

    A man who presented an entire poster at a meeting about me being unethical for reporting sex. harassment is now at a conference with me A man smelling like booze on the sidewalk just demanded that I take off my glasses so he could see my ‘pretty eyes’.

    When oppressed identities are turned into moral currencies, we incentivize political and moral entrepreneurs to cash in. A professor and founder of faked a Twitter persona of a "queer BIPOC professor" for years to advance her career and make ACTUAL Title IX claims.
