One of the best films of 2021–that I pushed to win Best First Feature at London Film Festival—is shortlisted at the Oscars. PLAYGROUND reminds me of the Dardennes and László Nemes’ SON OF SAUL. Immersive, tactile and ultimately heartbreaking.

László Nemes' Oscar-winning masterpiece #SonOfSaul depicts the horrors of Auschwitz with an unflinching eye. Though deeply disturbing, it’s definitely not to be missed. A film that has to be seen no matter what.

I betcha even Michael Haneke approves of this holocaust film. #LászlóNemes' directorial debut depicts the horrors of concentration camp life. It's only the second Hungarian film to win Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars, the first being Szabó's Mephisto.
