Friendly reminder: you can loop through objects just like arrays as long as you throw on some extra weird syntax: Object.keys(variableName). I'd forgotten, sharing just in case anybody else did too. Amazing how much stuff a loop can do. 👨‍💻

One more function factory for fun. This one is designed to produce functions that test whether or not a number is between the range specified as an input. And yes, the logic used for the temperature of lava is scientifically accurate. 👨‍💻

(Not a football guy, hence the code tweets -- last one!) So the only time you'll see a return within a return is when you use a function factory. Function factory = quick and easy way to produce similar logic with slight variations. 👨‍💻

  6. Just got done with the sign-up Formik form for the app that I and the team are working on. Will do the designing next week!

This is a goofy example but also a good illustration of how and why you might want to pass one function into another function as an argument (i.e. if you want to do x-action a different amount of times depending on y-situation). 👨‍💻

Here's a function unlike anything I've ever tried before. allTheMaths contains an arrow function for add, subtract, multiply, and divide. The results object holds a call to each function and whatever number the equation produced. Whoa! 👨‍💻

Also: here's a cleaner + more concise way to do the exact same thing -- draw a random playing card -- with an assist from a helper function (appropriately labeled "dealer"). ♣️♥️♠️♦️ 👨‍💻

Here's a fun program that mimics drawing a random card from a deck. Card and suit indexes generate a number based on how many options are available. Then I used [square] brackets to access the value, convert to an object, and return. 👨‍💻

Be careful with the placement of your return statements, especially when you're running a loop that checks several values inside an array for a certain conditional. Returning too soon will end the thread of execution before it's done. 👨‍💻

I started creating my own vs code theme last night (this morning)! I can't wait until it's done so I can share it! I'm so EXCITED!

Today I reviewed: arrays, objects, nesting arrays/objects, array/string methods, ternary operators, switch statements, template literals, conditionals, for loops + a long list of their use cases. 300 lines deep in my follow along code! 👨‍💻

Doing an extensive review of Javascript fundamentals. Hoping this will plug in little syntax-related knowledge gaps as this is often where I get stuck on algorithmic problems. Here are some string methods I've played with so far today. 👨‍💻

I just did a ton of React code for the first time in a while. It used to seem so complex. But after stretching my brain with algorithms, it seems way easier. Perhaps refreshing my memory RE: React won't be as hard as I thought! 👨‍💻
