Appreciation post for what was, and continues to be, my favorite thing about America: Blues. Chiefly, the Delta Blues of Junior Kimbrough. Shostakovich touches my soul, but Kimbrough makes me want to punch someone in a sweaty trance, and I like that very much. A thread. /1

Sure, the Black Key’s new release, Delta Kream, is an album of Mississippi hill country blues covers (Junior Kimbrough, R.L. Burnside, John Lee Hooker, etc.); but I’ve been listening to it deep for almost two months, and it’s awesome! It really is.
