    1955 Dr Kathleen Lynn, Chief Medical Officer of the Irish Citizen Army, gun runner &politician passed away. Dr Lynn also founded St. Ultan's hospital in Dublin &helped pioneer the fight against tuberculosis. She was buried with full military honours.

    1920 Black and Tans and British troops raided the home of James Connolly Jr, a Captain in the local Volunteers in Kinlough, Leitrim. After coming up empty handed, the Crown Forces shot dead his father, 70 year old James Connolly senior.

    1851 Anne Devlin the Irish republican died. Devlin was Robert Emmet's housekeeper. For this, Devlin was interrogated, tortured, half-hanged & her family were jailed in Kilmainham Gaol, yet she never gave any information to the authorities on Emmet.

    1920 Kevin Barry, an 18 year old medical student was captured after a failed ambush on British soldiers on Bolton St, Dublin in which 3 soldiers died, one 15 years old. Barry was to become the first republican to be executed since the Easter Rising.
